We are saddened at the tragic loss of life and suffering that Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar have been experiencing in the wake of Tropical Storm Ana.
High winds and torrential rains have caused widespread flooding, damage and destruction across those three southern African countries. Entire areas have been cut off after roads and bridges were washed away, people have been displaced after their homes collapsed, and their livelihoods have been destroyed.
Vulnerable populations are at heightened risk from the effects of climate change. The region is still trying to recover from 2019 cyclones Idai and Kenneth.
We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all whose lives have been affected.
