DATUM built of a new bedroom extension for 14 orphaned girls living in overcrowded conditions in Horana - complete with toilets and shower facilities

Project Cost: £4750

In the village of Horana in Sri Lanka, an existing residential building had been converted to provide a home for 14 orphaned girls aged between seven and 15 years old.

An existing residential building had been converted to provide a home for the girls but the existing structure was in a run-down condition and the orphanage was under-resourced and overcrowded.

DATUM decided to help and arranged the construction of a new bedroom extension for the girls, complete with toilets and shower facilities, as well as the decoration of the building both inside and outside. Works were completed in 2013.
